Book Review: "The World Peace Diet: Eating for Spiritual Health and Social Harmony"

Albert Einstein once wrote, "Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet." In his book, "The World Peace Diet," Dr. Will Tuttle illuminates and expands on this concept.

"The World Peace Diet" is a book that, if you have the willingness and the courage to read, will elevate your consciousness, change your perceptions about the world and its confused and conflicted understanding of morality, open your heart to a greater appreciation of nature, God and spirit, change the choices that you make on a daily basis, and in so doing change the universe for the greater good of all concerned.

"Everybody, soon or late, sits down to a banquet of consequences."

~ Robert Louis Stevenson

The Whole Peace Diet speaks to the terrorism, torture, mutilation, castration, rape, imprisonment, subjugation and mass murder of animals for food and other commodities, and above all, for profit.

It details the ways in which our society and our humanity reflects the ways in which we treat animals. Essentially, what we do to others, we do to ourselves. As we continue to inflict pain, suffering and death on other living entities, ignoring the facts that they have feelings, intelligence, intuition, mother-child relationships, peer relationships, and a divine purpose no better or worse than our own, we can rest assured there will never be peace on the planet. We can continue to expect ongoing war, violence, aggression, torture, sadism, rape, murder, the list goes on and on.

"The World Peace Diet" not only delves into the parallels of our behaviors towards animals and our behaviors towards each other, as well as our societal woes born of our hunger for profit by any means necessary, it also exposes the reader to the historical roots of humankind's diversion from a plant-based to an animal-based diet.

"By desecrating animals, we create energy fields that desecrate us and block our purpose on this earth: to unfold wisdom, love, and understanding."

~ Will Tuttle, Ph.D.

"The World Peace Diet" is brilliant, powerful and revealing. Equally so, it is a profoundly disturbing book: It holds up a mirror that provides a reflection most people will not enjoy looking at. We have been trained to dissociate the food we eat with the process that is involved prior to it arriving on our plate. We have become unconscious accomplices of mass murder. It's very sad.

The depths of our unconsciousness and the suppression of the truth of what we do to defenseless animals on behalf of our creature comforts reveal a society that is mired in duality and hypocrisy. Even our sacred religions which are supposed to be beacons of light to lead the way to God, Truth, Love and Peace have been co-opted by an animal eating/exploitation mentality.

As Dr. Tuttle so eloquently puts it: "May we ponder deeply the wisdom of the Golden Rule before it's too late, and begin to actually live it with respect to the animals who are at our mercy."

"Slaughter and justice cannot dwell together."

~ Isaac Bashevis Singer

Almost everyday I hear people talking about how horrible the world is, how everything is getting worse: the economy, the environment, the violence and war, the aggressive, competitive mentality in general, the ever-increasing inequality of classes.

Almost everyday I hear the sense of powerlessness and futility people have in terms of their desire to make a difference and to change our world for the better.

I tell you this with no equivocation: Just about all of the problems we are facing in the world today such as war, poverty, starvation, environmental devastation, obesity, cancer, heart attacks, diabetes, a multitude of other diseases and conditions, alcohol and drug abuse, massive economic inequality and political abuse of power are the result of a society entrenched in eating the flesh and blood of animals.

Read this book. Change your mind. Change your diet. Change your life.

CHANGE THE WORLD!

Your Body's Secret Wisdom-- Eating from the Tree of Life

Your body's secret wisdom is as ancient as humankind and encoded in every cell. It knows the perfect food for you to eat at any point in time. Yet we have lost touch with that perfect knowledge in this industrial society. We have lost touch with our birthright of absolute health.

It doesn't matter how old or how young you are. Your body can heal and rejuvenate itself from the inside out, and does so throughout your lifetime. If that is true, why is there such an epidemic of obesity and chronic illness plaguing the wealthiest society in the world?

We wear our suffering and lost connection to that secret wisdom in the form of excess fat, diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. We no longer appreciate the sacred quality of every food we eat, or the myriad life forms that compose our physical nature, our cells.

This Do in Remembrance of Me

One way to reconnect is to take a little time to reflect on the food you are about to eat. What does my heart want or need today for its health, and pleasure; my lungs, liver, pancreas, blood, skin, teeth and hair, etc? Meditate and ask these questions within before you put something in your mouth.

What does the food you eat say to you? Does it say, "I'm ready to become a beautiful part of you-- to sacrifice myself to nourish and energize this human being, because this human being has seen me as a sacred gift of energy?" Or does it say, "I will insist on being recognized," by causing this too-busy-to-care person indigestion, elevated cholesterol, or diabetes?

The sacred approach to food will change your perceptions and your tastes. In centuries past, every food that humans consumed carried with it a sacred symbolic meaning which modern civilization has forgotten. And in that forgetfulness, we find that we have also lost the ability to successfully utilize the gifts which the Deity has given us.

What was the Sacred Fruit of Eve?

Eating food is a sacred experience. Consider the spiritual and sacred qualities which ancient man attributed to his food.

Christian lore made the apple a symbol of original sin, even though the Bible never mentions an "apple." The tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil bore fruit, but not necessarily apples. The little apple was vilified by the patriarchal system because it displays a pentacle in its center, when cut sideways.

The pentacle is one of the most ancient and magical of symbols. It has been associated in Christianity with the star of Bethlehem, and three kings' star; in Paganism, as the Star of Lorges, the devil's sign, the witch's cross, and the goblin's foot. Even before these interpretations, the pentacle meant good health, or life.

Healthy to the Core

This earlier interpretation was attributed to the apple core pentacle of the earth mother goddess Demeter, and represented her unborn daughter, Kore. To this day, we still call the center of the apple the "core." The torso, or center of the human body, is also called the core. And lately, scientists have begun to discuss the health significance of the "apple-shaped" body, which holds more fat around the organs, or belly area.

In Romanian Myth, the goddess appeared as the fairy Magdalina, sitting in a cosmic apple tree, whose branches reached to heaven and whose roots reached into the ocean's abyss. It was believed that a holy name written on an apple, and eaten for three consecutive days, would cure a fever.

Today, science is proving the miraculous curative powers of certain phytochemicals in the humble apple. Perhaps the apple is the fruit of the other tree that grew in Paradise: the Tree of Immortal Life.

In Russian labs, apple polyphenols extended the life span of mice by 56%-- the human equivalent of 35 or 40 years. "It is quite possible," said one of the Russian biochemists, "to extend people's lifespan by 20-30 years without even having to invent anything." Nature, it seems, already has the answer.

Researchers in the U.S., Finland, and Sweden have shown positive results in 8 different types of cancer, when treated with apple phytochemicals. Like the scriptures, the old religions and myths hold secret truths which we are only beginning to decipher.

Sacred Cows

Cheese is another food with ancient spiritual connections. The Egyptians believed the body was created from mother's milk, which curdled into solid form as children put on weight and developed. This same idea is expressed in the Bible: "Hast thou not poured me out as milk, and curdled me like cheese?" (Job 10:10)

Cheese also served as a surrogate mother in the British countryside. A newborn child would be passed through a hole in the center of a large ring of cheese, called the "groaning cheese," as part of an old christening rite. This passage through cheese was done to protect the child from unseen dangers, and to bestow good fortune through life. Rich in calcium and protein, it is no wonder that our ancestors revered cheese as a gift from the Goddess.

In ancient Rome, the horn of plenty or cornucopia was originally a cow's horn, overflowing with all the fruits of the earth. The cow was considered the caretaker of humanity. We still use the expressions "holy cow," or negatively, "sacred cow."

In some of the earliest creation stories, the great Goddess, mother of all the Gods, was the cow. The Great Lady of the South gave birth to the sun, and created the essence of Gods and men. We now know that the complete proteins and overall nutrient content of beef and dairy products make them some of the most nutritious substances on the planet.

Paradise Lost

It is sad that the modern industrialized society treats its food supply with so little reverence. Our apples are never fresh from the arms of a generous tree. They are gassed, irradiated, fumigated, refrigerated, and stored for weeks or months before arriving at your grocery store. The beautiful apples you see in the produce aisle are no longer the purveyors of healing that nature intended.

Your body knows you should eat more apples, and other fresh fruit. But buy certified organic produce, grown the way the Goddess intended. Non organically-grown apples have some of the highest pesticide levels of all fruits.

Our own government found 36 different pesticides on apples tested from 1992 to 2001. The apples were washed before testing. Many of these pesticides permeated the entire fruit or vegetable, and could not be removed by washing or peeling.

From Sacred Foods to Superfoods

In addition, many of the nutrients which our ancestors received from this most sacred fruit have faded before it gets to your table. Supplement your fruits and vegetables with the green tea polyphenols, apple polyphenols, and pharmaceutical grade phytonutrients, available in capsule form. These supplements can help your body to detoxify some of the harmful pesticides and ingredients added to our food.

Apple polyphenols are six times more potent than vitamin C in protecting against environmental toxins and disease. Green tea polyphenols have been shown more effective in the treatment of cancer than some forms of chemotherapy.

Our cheeses, unless labeled organic, are created with additional chemical processes which leave toxic residue in the final product. The milk, which our children also drink, may contain radioactive elements and bovine growth hormones. And we wonder why our precious youth, suffer from various learning disabilities, hyperactivity, chronic illness, and obesity.

Cannibals and Cows

Even our wonderful cows are pressured into maturity and sacrifice prematurely with growth hormones, and cannibalism. Mad Cow disease is caused by supplying cows with processed cows as feed. This generates a very dangerous protein called a prion. The prion acts like a virus, replicating itself slowly. This causes a disease in cows which is quite similar to Crutchfield-Jacobs Disease in humans. This same disease was originally seen in tribal peoples who had the custom of eating their dead relatives.

It can take years for the prion to cause the symptoms of Mad Cow disease. Perhaps this is why we slaughter our cows before they are 3 or 4 years old. We are assured by the USDA that our beef supply is safe. Yet non-organically fed cows eat the same thing as the cows in other countries, infected with Mad Cow disease.

Only nerve tissue is affected by these prions. Stay away from ground beef, which could be processed on the same equipment which processed brain or spinal tissue from cows, unless you know for certain how the ground beef was processed.

Re-experience the sacred mystery of beef. Find out how it was fed and treated before slaughter, and then how it is handled on the way to your table. Or raise your own.

Give Me Health and a Day

If you think the world has gone mad, reconsider this axiom: you are what you eat. And remember the creation myth of the cow whose milk curdled the Universe into existence. Mad Cow disease, obesity, and chronic illness in young children may be like the canary in the coal mine-- signs and omens within our own homes and families, which may all begin with the food we eat.

Insist on food which is grown organically, with care and love. Treat it as a divine blessing. Cultivate a renewed sacred connection to everything you eat. The secret wisdom of your body can guide you back to the blessing of your birthright- absolute, radiant health.

Balancing Your Chakras to Heal Emotional Eating

Energy Balancing of the Chakras, when combined with hypnosis, can help a person lose weight and feed the "Hungry Heart" of emotional eating. I have noticed many overweight people are "leaking" energy in what I named the "Hunger Chakra" located in the "basin" of the lower stomach, also known as the Sacral Chakra area. If you are challenged with the frustrations of excess weight and "yo-yo" dieting, ask yourself these questions:

• Are you always Hungry?

• Have you tried everything to lose weight?

• Have you wasted enough of your precious time, energy and money on this weight release problem?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then perhaps you need to go deeper beneath the layers of the weight loss puzzle to find a missing piece....Chakra Balancing.

Knowledge of the Chakras is ancient and new scientific research gives credence to this theory. The ancient Hindus specified that we have 7 Sacred Energy centers running from the base of your spine to the top of your head which correspond to certain bodily organ functions, psychological functions, emotional and spiritual centers. Their interconnected balance plays a profound role in every aspect of your life and well being. According to recent scientific studies, each Chakra location corresponds with a major bundle of nerves beginning at the base of your spine and ending at the brain's cerebral cortex. If any Chakra is blocked or imbalanced due to fear, stress, negative programming or inactivity, then your overall well being is affected. You can even sense a deficiency or imbalance in that area if it feels constricted or cold/hot or you feel stress or pain in that area.

Your Sacral Chakra is located in the sacral region of your body about two inches down from your navel to your pelvic area. The Sacral Chakra is "the seat" or the origin of our instinctual cravings, desires and habitual responses-and is intimately connected to emotional eating. Desires, impulses and cravings rule the Sacral Chakra. They are for food, sex, relationships and procreating. This is also where the instinctual "Hungry Beast" resides, the part of your subconscious mind that just wants to be gratified and feed all the time. So how do you quiet the "Hungry Beast" whose voracious appetite constantly demands to be fed? In order to "tame" the Hungry Beast, there are learned bad habits, learned behaviors and an unhealthy lifestyle to address; as well as the issue of emotional eating used to medicate, sooth or repress emotions. Digging even deeper, there is the Spiritual Hunger that yearns to be feed to fill the "hole in the soul" that no food will ever fill!

The mind and will power exerted to "beat" the Hungry Beast into submission through strict diets and deprivation, don't work in the long run. It is human nature to desire what we are deprived of-setting most up for a binge. Your body is wired to seek energy when it is starving. To fulfill that Spiritual Hunger however, your Heart Chakra, located in the center of your chest is the great healer and transformer and balancer of all the Chakras. Only through the wisdom of your Heart Chakra, working in concert with your "Hungry" Sacral Chakra, the need to achieve Balance can help to tame the Hungry Beast.

Listen with your Heart Chakra! Treat your body as your own best friend-with respect, care and compassion. Listen to your body's needs and messages to you. Ask your body: What do you need? What kinds of food do you need to fuel well to feel well? Are you really hungry-or do you need to be nourished and comforted by love and kindness-reaching out to a loved one-or to extend love or a helping hand to another? Do you need to move and stretch your body? Do you need to take in a deep delicious breath? Or are you starving for some "me" time? A very simple exercise to Balance your Hungry Sacral Chakra is to connect with the healing and transformative energy of the sacred Heart Chakra. The Technique is as follows:

First rub your hands together and place one of your hands your sacral area about two inches down from your navel and your other hand over your heart. You can easily "connect" with your chakras through your life breath.....just follow the flow of breath moving in and out as you release, relax and let go into your body as you imagine your breath is just like the flow of the ocean waves. Imagine the gentle flow of a radiant breath of light moving in and out through the center of your heart. Feel, sense or imagine there is an eternal flame of light within the center of your heart-the light of your soul. Feel this inner light grow brighter and more radiant-opening up and filling all the dark spaces and places within you and illuminating your life with love, forgiveness, peace and understanding. You can even allow your love light to grow brighter as you bring to mind a loved one, the smile of a baby, giggles of children playing, a treasured pet, a beautiful sunset or a scene in nature that takes your breath away!..Just stay a moment here.

Now imagine a cord of spiraling light connecting from your Heart Chakra to your Sacral Chakra and the cord of light spirals up from your sacral chakra and one that spirals down from your heart chakra intertwining like a double helix of spiraling light. The balancing color of your Sacral Chakra is orange. As you are inhaling and exhaling, imagine a golden orange ball of light warming your belly area and filling it with light. Allow its orange glowing radiance to glow brighter and brighter. Feel the light filling any empty spaces and places within your belly with the warmth and radiance of the sun.

Imagine this area as an open vessel, a bowl of light that opens and receives this good positive energy and becomes revitalized and recharged and full. Take in as much as you need to take in and feels good to you. Now rotate your hands first in a clockwise and then counterclockwise position 7x to balance and anchor this energy within your body. Next, check in with your body and ask what it really needs....Listen to your body. Now repeat the following affirmations out loud:

I am connected to my Divine/Source energy

I am loving and compassionate

I appreciate my body and treat it with respect

I draw in vitality

I honor my body and its needs.

I feel my emotions and I am connected to my center of well being,

I honor my emotions as they are my internal guide.

I reach out to the world in healthy ways

I am nourished by healthy relationships

I establish healthy boundaries.

I have a healthy relationship to my body and to food.

I am grateful.

I honor and appreciate the energies of these chakras in my life. I am connected to Source/Divine energy.

I radiate good health and wellbeing.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

Eating Disorders - A Growing Epidemic

WHAT IS ANOREXIA?

Anorexia is an intense pursuit of thinness. A person with anorexia starves themselves, becomes dangerously thin and denies themselves the pleasure of eating even though they are hungry. Eating or not eating becomes a way to cope with feelings, emotions and life circumstances. Anorexia affects people of all ages and backgrounds. An estimated one out of every 100 adolescent girls has the disorder, and more than 1000 women die from anorexia each year in the US alone.

An eating disorder begins as a diet to lose weight and/or the pressure to be thin and attractive. Then the weight loss becomes a sign of mastery and control. A strong determination to become thinner and thinner takes over and the person significantly restricts their food thus becoming dangerously thin. A person with anorexia has a distorted image of their body, themselves and the world and thinks and believes they are fat even when emaciated.

Sufferers generally experience out-of-control fear, depression and anxiety and often become irritable and withdrawn. Unusual behaviors may include compulsive rituals, bizarre eating habits, and dividing food into categories. Food, calories, weight, and weight management occupy most of the anorexic's attention and they frequently become angry when someone tries to interfere with their habits. The process of eating becomes an obsession.

Fear becomes associated with food, even the sight of food causes fear reaction. Food = Fat and Fat = Rejection, so it all becomes enmeshed together. People with anorexia may continually weight themselves and engage in techniques to control their weight, such as compulsively exercising, vomiting and abuse laxative, enemas and/or diuretics.

Anorexics use the behavior as a way of dealing or not dealing with emotions or problems in their life. They weigh themselves frequently, wear baggy clothes to cover up thinness and repeatedly look in the mirror for flaws. Some may have decreased sexual desire and miss menstrual periods. The majority of their time is spent talking and thinking about food and weight and might develop a sense of self by being labeled "anorexic." It becomes a banner, a shield and an identity. Individuals with anorexia often attempt to hide the disorder and frequently are in denial.

There is no definite cause of anorexia; however some experts believe that demands from society and families, and a poor self-image can be contributing factors. Most anorexics fear growing up and use restrictive dieting to prevent their bodies from developing so they can maintain the parent-child relationship.

WHAT IS BULIMIA?

Bulimia is a diet, binge, purge behavior. A person with bulimia also has an intense fear of being fat and most feel intensely dissatisfied with their bodies. They may look happy on the outside, yet feel lonely, frightened and empty internally. This person often feels out of control while eating and is unable to stop until the food is gone. When the food is gone, guilt about eating takes over and they have to get rid of the food by vomiting, exercising, using laxatives, diuretics or enemas.

Many bulimics consume as much as 20,000 calories at a time in a rapid, automatic way. The foods consumed are often sweet or high-calorie foods such as ice cream, cake, breads, or pasta. An individual may binge anywhere from twice a day to many times a day.

As with anorexia, the process of eating becomes an obsession, a way to cope with feelings. The act of stuffing one with food and then purging gives the person a sense of relief. Unlike people with anorexia, you cannot immediately identify the behavior. They often weigh an average weight; however one might see weight fluctuations in a person. People with bulimia often do their behaviors in secrecy attempting to conceal their symptoms, yet feeling ashamed when they binge, and relieved once they purge. Typically people with bulimia are very body and weight conscious and are frequently dieting.

Harm on the body

Eating disorders can have harmful effects on the body. They may possibly lead to death by starvation, heart failure or suicide. Specific effects on the body can include irregular heartbeat; hair loss; low blood pressure; damage to organs, especially the heart, brain, muscles and kidneys; loss of thyroid function; anemia; swollen joints; brittle bones (osteoporosis) and fatigue. A person with bulimia can also get swollen glands; damage the esophagus; wear down the teeth from the acid in vomit; and have ulcers in the mouth and throat.

My 23 year struggle

My name is Debra. I didn't come into this world with this name and I didn't choose it. It was given to me when I arrived. I came here as a shining diamond.....but somewhere along the way, just as my name was "given" to me, so was guilt, shame, blame, positive and negative thoughts, words and actions from myself and others. The negative outweighed the positive. This was how I experienced myself and the world. I didn't know how to reject it; instead I took it into my consciousness and created a "negative" self-image. My diamond went from shiny to dull.

From my earliest memory food was an issue. I felt very uncomfortable with myself and my surroundings and turned to food for love, comfort and safety. At age 13 I weighed 140 pounds when my doctor told me to "go on a diet." I started losing weight and received a lot of positive recognition which made me feel good. I started to associate feeling good with losing weight. Unconsciously I became trapped in a vicious cycle. I had to continue to lose weight in order to feel good. My weight dropped down to 80 pounds and I was hospitalized.

For the next 23 years I was in and out of hospitals, and living in an eating-exercising trance. At the beginning it gave me a sense of power and control, but after awhile I was being controlled by it. By focusing on food, weight and exercise I didn't have to deal with the pressures of growing up and making decisions like; what I want to do with my life, dating, drugs, career etc. (I didn't know that I was doing this at the time, all I know is I was frightened and confused.) By doing the anorexic behaviors, my life was contained and controlled. I stopped the process of growing up, nothing new could come in and I wouldn't come out. Gaining and losing weight, eating very little and constantly exercising was the focus of my life.

In the hospitals I would gain weight, but as soon as I left I focused all of my energy on losing it, it was the only way I knew how to cope in the world. Because I was so frightened to gain weight, whenever I ate, I made myself exercise for hours so I wouldn't get fat. I unconsciously regressed back to that lonely child who never felt loved or good enough, staying small so someone would take care of me.

I associated food with negative feelings. Whenever I ate, my emotions became more intense, I felt the "yucky" feelings in my body and I hated myself even more. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I projected those feelings into a fat image of myself. It was like looking into a mirror at a fun house where you see yourself five times the size you truly are.

Eating became my sacred time, something I did in private. No matter what "no one can see me eat." It was as if I was doing something "bad." I also had rituals of eating certain foods at a certain time in a certain way. By doing this I felt powerful and in control of my life.

By continuously doing the behaviors over and over again, I made an imprint in my subconscious training my body to respond and exercise whenever I ate or had feelings or emotions. In other words, if I wasn't eating, I was exercising. If for any reason I couldn't exercise, I would get a sick feeling in my stomach, my heart would race and I'd sweat. The physical feeling and thoughts wouldn't go away until I exercised. I was like a hamster on a wheel, moving very fast but not getting anywhere, with a very narrow focus of life. (Food and exercise)

Because the subconscious is the driving force of our behaviors, I would automatically exercise after I ate and no longer felt like I had a choice. My subconscious mind was now dictating my life. I was a robot, being controlled by unseen commands.

When I exercised "I thought" I was getting rid of the negative thoughts and feelings that I felt in my gut. However, by running I just pushed the "yuck" deeper inside myself and I eventually had to deal with it. No wonder I felt "so fat" even at 80 pounds; I was fat with the feelings I stuffed inside.

I was so frightened of change so I stayed in my "familiar zone" even if I was going to die. I knew that if I ate the same foods and exercised everyday then I was sure to stay the same weight or get even thinner. I didn't feel capable of taking good care of myself, nor did I want to because I didn't have any beliefs to support this. By looking so thin and gaunt I was telling the world, "I'm empty, lonely and angry, please someone show me you love me by taking care of me." For me, the anorexia kept me small (literally). It was a shield (a trance) and a "safety blanket" I used so I didn't have to make choices and it protected me from the world in which I felt so unworthy.

How I overcame the eating disorder

I became empowered by having the courage to sit through my discomfort and take charge of my life on a conscious and sub-conscious level. Bringing myself back to the here and now helped me to be present with my feelings. By being present with my feelings I was able to connect with my true self. Doing the anorexic behaviors kept me in constant fear, and I could never attain what I truly wanted.

Everyday, I took one action different from what the eating disorder behavior dictated. Slowly my life started to change. The anorexia served a purpose in my life, it was my safety, comfort and "my friend." I had to find new healthy ways to get these needs met. I was starting to take charge of my life from my true internal desires. I started reading books on spirituality and discovered that I was more than just my body and the negativity that was piled on me from a very young age. There is a tender spirit inside me that is happy, joyous and loving. Today, I now take the steps necessary to make my life work on all levels, physical, emotional and spiritual.

I used the power of intention and visualization to create a healthy body and bring fun and happiness into my life. I had to stop running in order to get in touch with my inner desires and true happiness. It was a process, and because I stuck with it, my life continues to get better and better. I also used hypnosis to change my automatic responses and my limiting beliefs that kept me stuck. By aligning my conscious mind with my subconscious mind, I wasn't in so much conflict within myself and gradually became more relaxed and peaceful. "Everyday in every way I'm getting stronger and stronger, healthier and healthier, happier and happier."

I use self-hypnosis, meditate, read and say positive affirmations daily. I focus my attention on what I want and change any thoughts or actions that don't serve me to ones that do. I take time everyday to connect with the love deep inside myself and bring it to others instead of looking for and needing it from them. Every time I do this I feel a glow emanating from my core and all around me. I am a shining diamond here to love, serve and LIVE.

The power of my mind (conscious and unconscious) now continues to help me along the way. Once I made the decision and commitment to being healthy, books, teachers, mentors and seminars started showing up. "I am being divinely guided." I'm constantly looking for ways to help myself and others live a rich, fun and rewarding life.

What Does God Say About Eating Meat?

"If Mankind Had Known, They Would Have Perished..."

Is it right to eat meat? No matter what religious or spiritual background you may have, it is a valid question. If we are looking to know the heart of Divine Love in all things, why not also in our choices of food? Also, in recent years there have been very public health scares about meat consumption; we read of illnesses and death related to contaminated meat, and also about meat additives such as hormones and antibiotics. What is the best thing to do for our bodies and the bodies of those we love? Should we just stop eating meat? Or just stop eating red meat? Or maybe buy organic meat instead? How does a person figure it all out? Again, this is where knowledge beyond ourselves comes into play, the One who made our bodies knows what is best for them. What does God say about eating meat? What are animals anyway and why are they here? Is it primarily so we can eat them?

There are two kinds of animals on the earth, wild and domesticated. Just as we are sparks off of the Divine Flame, domesticated animals are smaller sparks off of our own flames. These delegates serve a specific purpose, they are here to teach us more about love, the giving and receiving of love, balance within these bodies and most certainly how to play. These are our pets, and they take these roles very seriously. Delegates operate within our own free will, they are a part of us and are here to help us. They are spirit off our spirit, just as our spirit is off of God's. They are mobile sacred space, opportunities of unconditional love.

What about the non-domesticated animals or wild animals? These all belong to God. These are what we can think of as Father's delegates. These are a different kind of extension of love and joy for Father to feel and experience life through. It is easy to see how people of all cultures have had respect for animals in some regard and how those that we think of as being more spiritual have picked up on the respectful treatment of animals. When we take care of the wild animals, when we show love and respect for them, we demonstrate love and respect for the One who created us all. There are many examples of this, one being St. Francis of Assisi who often called the animals brothers, and was said to be able to communicate with them freely. Clearly, animals have much more to offer us then their flesh. Whether they be wild or domesticated.

Does that mean that a person is doing something wrong if they eat meat? No, it does not. Tiffany Snow specifically asked the question during one of the experiences of her stigmata (the spontaneous opening of the five wounds of Christ). The information offered here is from that time of connection, plus Bible quotations are listed for reference as well.

When God first made mankind, he made them vegetarians. Interestingly, he also made animals that way too. "Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground - everything that has the breath of life in it - I give every green plant for food. And it was so." (Genesis 1:29,30) Mankind and the animals were at peace with one another, and a primary objective was to spend time with them and get to know them well (Genesis 2:19, 20).

All this changed after the flood of Noah's day. Now the original ecosystem had been destroyed, and new ways to live it in were given. "Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything. But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it." (Genesis 9:3,4) Along with this mankind now had a new relationship with the animals, as they also had among themselves. (Genesis 9:2) Now meat was added to sustain life in this new, less Edenic world. It was given as a gift so that others could live. Why had the information about the true delegate nature of animals not been given in the scriptures before? God said it was because if mankind had known, they would not have eaten meat, and would have perished right after the flood, because there was not enough sustenance in the land itself through any other means.

God is so loving that he would allow for encroachment upon himself rather than have mankind suffer and perish by not having enough to eat. This is a precious insight into the tenderness of Love. This is Divine Love in action everyday, literally laying down one's life for another. "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13)

Be encouraged then to partake of the banquet that God has ordained for us. For God has allowed mankind to eat meat so that mankind not suffer or be in lack. It is a blessing given to us, with one condition. When meat was given to mankind it was also with the provision that the blood in it was poured out to God. The blood circulating in our veins is not ours, but on loan by God, it is considered his. "The life of the flesh is in the blood...drain out the blood and cover it with earth...you must not eat the blood of any creature..." (Leviticus 17:10-14) Many have wondered if this applies to how a meat is cooked, if eating rare meat is not recommended. But that is not the case. If the animal has been properly bled, that is all that is required, and need not worry us.

Yes, in all cultures throughout time we have seen the natural inclination that as spirituality increases, many have chosen to eat less meat or not to eat meat at all. But this is not required by God, but it is a free will choice available to man, and at this time of world imperfection, we are able to eat meat as needed or even desired. We are told in the Bible that if a person has faith that is strong, it will not matter what they eat. If their faith is weaker and they see a limitation upon themselves that they have imposed or bought into from an imposition of another and they think that they cause themselves harm by eating this food or that food, then they are not to be pushed to change. It is up to them. Accept their choices and allow their faith to grow with God. (1 Corinthians 8:1-13) For it is not what goes into a man that defiles him, but what comes out - not about what he eats or puts in his mouth, but about what comes from it. (Matthew 15:17-20)

From this we can also better understand the sacrifice of animals all throughout scripture. In the Old Testament we have many examples of an animal being offered as a sacrifice, to wash away sin (sin means literally "missing the mark of perfection" like an arrow missing the bull's-eye). God asked that these animals be the first born, be pure and without defect and he asked that their blood be used as a cleansing. Does it make more sense now, knowing that it was God's blood, through the animal, that was being used as a cleansing? God himself was rinsing away sin through his own blood within the animal offered. Now do you also see the forgiveness of sin that came through the life-blood of the perfect first-born son of God, Christ himself, poured out for all mankind?

So let it be known that it is up to each individual whether or not they choose to eat meat. That is between the person and God. We are not asked to live in fear, for fear stagnates and freezes us, love always moves us forward. Listen to the spirit of God within you, for he often talks to us in our own voice, and lift up any questions about eating this or that to God. It is not about following the news about the next health scare, which often includes vegetable warnings as well. But to live in faith and love, and in balance. This place of balance is where The Big Guy wants all of us to be, each of us to be the mystic and hear him for ourselves. Not to give our power away to others or live in fear, but to lift all things up and see if they resonate with our heart and spirit, to listen to the spark of God within us. That place of listening may be guiding your hand over which cut or kind of meat on any particular day, or it may be that place of remembering to pray a blessing over any food before you eat it, transforming it back into a state of health for us.

Now you have greater understanding of the deeper knowledge of animals and meat, and the love of God for humanity.

Love desires us and our loved ones to be healthy, and fully guided and protected in all things. Especially as things speed up in this world shift and the dark becomes darker, more guidance and information is given, for the light becomes lighter as well, and Love wins! This love includes having safe and healthy food for the physical body, and the spiritual information to help us grow and understand ourselves and the world better, including the animals around us.
